Approved for loading of 65lbs per square inch of 184 lbs p.s.i. This is equal to 4.58 p.s.c. to 12.96 kg p.s.c.
This gives: Minimum attenuation of 28 decibels with an exciting frequency of 100 hertz (50 cycles per second) at the lower loading.
An attenuation of 40 decibels with an exciting frequency of 100 hertz (50 cycles per second) at the upper loading - this loading will give a compression of 15% of the material thickness and is the maximum permitted by the Central Electricity Generating Board.
♦ Under Imperial System the maximum/minimum load per foot run will be 2340 lbs to 6624 lbs.
♦ Under the Metric System the maximum/minimum load per metre run will be 3425 kg to 9720 kg.
It is usual for us to work to loadings of 120+/-0 140 lbs p.s.i. (the equivalent metric loading range would be 8.45 - 9.6 kg p.s.c.) when calculating transformer mounts, this compensates for unevenness of floors or transformer bases. If the material is over loaded it will improve it's efficiency but reduce it's anticipated working life since it is found in practice that to exceed 15% compression leads to rapid life reduction.
Manufactured in 75mm wide x 38mm thick section with a maximum length of 7000mm.
Harmonics
Where parallel lengths of mounting are in excess of 1778mm, it is normal for a harmonic "beat" to develop. (This is similar to the noise which would be brought about when two propeller mounted aircraft engines are out of synchronisation).
It is a normal precaution to advise our client to:-
1. Either design the mounts having the layout of a "picture frame", eg with mounting pads round the outer edge of the transformer base, or;
2. Vulcascot neoprene sponge non-intercellular strip fits section 50 x 50mm round the outer edge of the transformer base wedging the sponge between the ends of the anti-vibration mounting pads. The 50mm sponge neoprene is then compressed by the transformer.
PLEASE NOTE: Vulcascot neoprene sponge non-intercellular is available in 1m lengths.
